The Pitch of Grief

Eric Stange began The Pitch of Grief after his wife died of cancer at the age of thirty. "I felt cheated," he says, "that nowhere in my life had I ever had an inkling of what it feels like to have someone you love die. It was really a mystery to me how strong the feelings were, how unbearable. This gentle video explores the emotional process of grieving through interviews with four bereaved men and women, young and old. It will be helpful not only for the bereaved person, but for family, friends and healthcare workers, and for all of us who will someday face the loss of a loved one. A co-production of the Center for Independent Documentary.

"Sensitive, informative and timely, this excellent film addresses the special problems of different types of bereavements. Highly Recommended."—Editor's Choice, Science Books & Films

"I proudly recommend it to hospices, colleges, universities, support groups, bereavement counselors, funeral professionals, death educators, and clergy."—Gail Gruner, Director, Center for Death Education
